The U.S. public spends more than 90% of their time indoors and a recent research study shows that 65% of U.S. parents see it as a "very serious" problem that their kids aren't spending more time outdoors. gardening is considered moderate to high-intensity exercise. You can actually burn up to 330 calories just during one hour of light gardening and yard work. It's fun exercise!

Being surrounded by flowers is actually said to improve one's health

in behavioral research conducted at Rutgers University, results showed that flowers are a natural and healthful moderator of moods and have an immediate impact on happiness.


It's a stress reliever

a study in the Netherlands found that two groups of students were told to either read indoors or garden for 30 minutes AFTER completing a stressful task. You bet that the group that gardened reported being in a better mood than those who read! They also exhibited lower level of cortisol, the stress hormone!
