These plume-flowered plants have ultra-handsome fern-like foliage, and stiff stems that always hold the elegant plumesaloft without any staking! And they're DEER RESISTANT! 

Designing with Astilbe

Plant in groups of 3 or 5 to create an interesting presentation under a canopy of shade trees, or tuck plants in between evergreen shrubbery for a bit of color and texture!Rhododendrons, azaleas, ferns, and hostas are also great companion plants because they all prefer shade and grow in a very wide range of hardiness zones!

'Delft Lace'

Showy pale pink plumed provide a beautiful summer color in shady areas. The lovely flower spires on deep red stems rise above mounds of lacy, blue-green to silver-green foliage. This perennial adds a light, airy quality to woodland and shady gardens or borders! DEER RESISTANT.

'Cappuccino'
Frothy cream of white blossoms float above a dark bronze foliage. Thick plumes on red stems cover the foliage then transition to dark green after flowering. Continued interest! DEER RESISTANT.

'Amber Moon'
The foliage of amber moon emerges a bright chartreuse yellow in the spring with just a tinge of red pigment in the newest leaves. It provides a bright spot of color and lacy texture to the shade garden in the spring and then greens up a bit by late summer. Very tall, strong, blush red stems carry rose pink flowerpanicles in the summer time! DEER RESISTANT.

'Finale'
This dwarf, late blooming selectionfeatures showy, soft-lavender plumes, over a compact mound of elegant, lacy green leaves. It makes anexcellent low growing ground cover or edging plant. DEER RESISTANT.

'Little Visions in Pink'
Perfectly sized for containers or the front of a border, this perennial offers the same great traits as the original ‘Visions in Pink’ just in a smaller package! Standing up to 16 inches in bloom, a dense block of fuzzy, pyramidal shaped, rose pink plumes are presented. A member of the Chinese Astilbe, this one shows to have a bit greater tolerance to drier soils and can take full sun.DEER RESISTANT.

'Purple Rain'
This mid-sized selection has fluffy plumes in shades of lavender to magenta, over a mound of elegant lacy green leaves. This variety will tolerate wet soils, making it a good choice next to streams, ponds, or wet areas. DEER RESISTANT.


'Purple Candles'

A member of the Chinese Astilbe, this later bloomingspecies is useful for extending the bloom season well into late summer! Foliage is deeply incised and coarsely textures, often featuring a bronze-green color. Though garden performance is far superior in moist soils, this species is moderately drought tolerant! DEER RESISTANT. 


'Spotlight'
An upright and strong plant habitwith shiny, dark bronze foliage! Light pink flowers grace this gorgeous astilbe, giving it a nice contrast. Ideal to create color and texture near any shady water feature! DEER RESISTANT.

'Visions in Pink'
Showy plumed flower spikes adorn this outstanding bloomer where it can be protected from hot afternoon sun. Their raspberry-pink flowers addvaluable color accent to the landscape! Among the tallest of the red-flowering astilbes! This herbaceous perennial is grown for the tolerance of shade,dependable bloom, tall spikes of flowers, and dark/dense ferny foliage. The spikes have a branching habit resembling a Christmas tree! One plant may even produce several stems, making a cloud of blooms high above the leaves in the mid-late summer. DEER RESISTANT.
